Damon: "We're making a Gorillaz film, and Terry Gilliam is involved"

Gorillaz co-creator Damon Albarn has spoken out on the progress of the Gorillaz movie idea. In an interview in the latest issue of UK music magazine uncut, Damon says that acclaimed director (Twelve Monkeys, Brazil) and Monty Python member Terry Gilliam is involved:-

" [Gorillaz] has been a fantastic journey which isn't over, because we're making a film. We've got Terry Gilliam involved. But as far as being in a big band and putting pop music out there, it's finished. We won't be doing that any more."

Glad to see they're still working on it.

WHAT THE FUCK?! I FUKING LOVE THEIR MUSIC!! THATS SOOO NOT FAIR...IM LOSEING MY RESEPCT FOR THAT STUPID GRILLAZ WHAT EVER THERE SUPPOSED TO BE NOW!!!????!!!???! >_
I'm sure there will be new music, just in the form of a soundtrack. I'd really like to see Damon do a score for a film. And I'm sure it will have plenty of new songs, too.

I find it a little sad as Damon's saying that there will be no more band or music things for them in the future. But the film sounds great!

HOLY MFING SHIT! I'M GONNA SEE THAT!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SO EXCITED!
But it really is sad...no, DEPRESSING...that Gorillaz will be coming to an end. But ya know what, peoples? Lets not be TOO upset about it. I mean, Gorillaz fans everywhere will be sad about it, but let's let the depression state begin AFTER Gorillaz end, okay? I mean, if Gorillaz are gonna die, lets let 'em die with insane fans who adore them.
Wise words...
I know they'll make more music! Don't fool us, Albarn!

As for the movie, interesting. Is it possible that recent Kong Studio events (El Manana, 2D operation, Russel's army, and Murdoc 6/6/06) are basically like a prelude to the movie?

What army
Gilliam's an artistic genius. This could be something great.
Gosh, I hope that Damon is high as a kite whenever he says no more Gorillaz music. 'Cause as much as the idea of a film makes me go "w00t", the idea of no more music simply squashes that joy and turns it into sorrow.
JAMIE DON'T LET DAMON END IT ALL! ME WANNA SEE YOUR LOVELY ART WORK STILL!!!!

So?

I think it's pretty stuppid when people bitch about no more Gorillaz albums. It started out as a side project in between Blur albums and comic books, remember? Two extremly awesome albums, two interactive DVDs, A BOOK! How many bands have put out a BOOK?!?! Not many. They're so original and genious, and I think its safe to say that it is time to just let it go. Oh, wait, I forgot, there's a FEATURE LENGTH FILM COMING OUT!!! In my opinon, a feature length film should be enough to hold fans and non-fans alike...

the film thing is great news for any gorillaz fan, im REALLY! disappointed that there will be no more albums though i thought it was supposed to be a trilogy :( oh well be happy with what we got i spose
Maybe the third album is a soundtrack album.
Relax, Damon kinda announced the "demise" of Gorillaz MONTHS ago and then said something along the lines of, "But isn't it really hip hop to retire and then come back?" Gorillaz will return.
"...in thirty years..." I can't speak for everyone but I'd sure as hell like to still be in my twenties when I hear about a Gorillaz come back.
=D Those are really good news!
Gotta love Terry Gilliam...
...Okay Nans... How is the news "Gorillaz will never play again" good news? Yeah sure, we're supposedly getting a book, game and movie but what's the point of all this if Gorillaz is dead?
