Official 'Plastic Beach' artwork released on EMI Australia blog

Frouwke sends the news that a 'Plastic Beach' image (not definitively stated to be the album cover itself - see the ambiguous and possibly speculative comment below) has been released via the official EMI Australia blog here, introduced with the comment "The brand new – and I mean we received this a matter of hours ago – Plastic Beach artwork features Japanese Gorillaz character Noodle seriously ready for battle. Bring on the tunes!" Image appears below. Click 'Read More' below to see the image before the colours were inverted (thanks to terrie). Some fans have also speculated that the image, as it appears on the EMI Australia blog, has been stretched vertically.

Ph, at first I thought it was 2D for some reason! It's looking real good. I recently finished my Gorillaz collection; I finally bought the Phase 1 DVD and the Demon Days special edition... But the web link doesn't work!!!

Also, I hope this isn't the cover art. It's kinda boring and uninspired. Maybe it will grow on me.

it looks pretty awful with the colors inverted. it also looks like the image itself has been distorted vertically. really looks like someone made a sloppy mess in microsoft paint.

I don't know about the rest of you but I think this is beautiful artwork!! It's just how I always imagined her *dreamy face* I think this is great, maybe not exactly cover art material though (because I'd like the rest of the Gorillaz members to be on there ^^). Regardless of what this picture's used for, it. is. AWESOME!

Idk,butI love it. I love the whole phsycedelic feel to the font. And the way Noodle looks fits the whole Plastic Beach theme a think

the font still pisses me off, sorry. The artwork itself is nice, but I don't think this'll end up as the cover. It seems more like a promo piece.

I dig the font. That's probably not the album cover... it doesn't even have the same proportions as an album. I want to see more 2D!!

Wicked man, wicked! Ehh, both versions of the pictures are awesome. But the title font...ehh, it's ok. It's kinda...weird seeing the word Gorillaz in that font...but otherwise, shoooww! It's nice.

How do we find out if this is the cover art or not? Did you guys try sending a message to the EMI website?
I love the image and the awesome font... but I don't think it's that great of an album cover per se. Are you guys in contact with them?

That picture is fucking BEAST, and I dig the campy Scooby Doo font they used for the album's title. Very retro horror a la 1964. CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS... LOCK YOUR DOORS... IT'S THE CARTOON BAND THAT WOULDN'T STAAAYYYY DEEEEAAAD!

Yay! This looks great! I actually don't really mind the title font, I think it looks kinda cool actually. Noodle too! What a badass.

looks awesome. seems like they will have a irate kind of looking. I think the inverted color is better but thats only me. I think the title is all right also, it looks nice to be just a promo (noodle looks badass)

GUYS... NO WORRIES.
This DEFINITELY isn't the final cover... and I'll tell you why.
Look at Noodle's vest right above her bellybutton.
It's a mouse cursor... suggesting that this image was taken from a screencap... probably a rush job.
I personally love the logo and the artwork... I would just rather see all 4 Gorillaz on the cover of the new album.

HA! yes! i do like the font though also. something about the relaxed font and noodle armed to the teeth... the fact that they dont belong together brings the charm. much like something you would see from a quinton terintino movie.
